Jie’s career reflections:

List 3 questions that you often ask when interviewing job applicants.

  • What is the value of finance as an industry in developing society?

  • What are your long-term goals and your 10-year plan?

  • Tell me your top three weaknesses that you have been struggling to overcome.

What can students do to best prepare themselves for the challenging job market?

  • Focus on your studies and develop your capacity of fast learning and deep thinking, which are key life skills.
  • Build, maintain and fully utilise your professional network, including the ANU alumni. For ANU graduates who choose to start their career in China, plenty of opportunities await you, however, the importance of selecting the right role and industry through research can never be overstated. To this end, your alumni network can be a great resource as speaking to an alumnus or alumna who’s also an industry expert can provide a wealth of knowledge that underpins your informed decision.
