The ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) is dedicated to ensuring students are prepared to successfully navigate the professional landscape and meet the expectations of future employers.

The CBE Careers and Student Employability team works with industry to facilitate soft skill-development workshops designed to help students become confident, work-ready and competitive graduates, and to support their successful transition to the workplace. Momentum is an opportunity to learn, grow and network, and can be pivotal towards mapping your future career and building professional relationships.

The workshops are designed to reflect five research-based pillars of employability. These include:

  • communication
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • teamwork
  • leadership
  • personal brand

To support the development of soft skills in our students, in 2023 CBE Careers and Student Employability introduced CliftonStrengths. One of the leading developmental assessments in the world, the CliftonStrengths assessment measures the presence of talent in 34 general areas. Mentees receive a report that identifies their top five natural talents, and these will be explored through Momentum.

Applications for Momentum Intensive (8–10 April), will open in February 2025.

"Momentum is an opportunity to not only interact with and learn from business professionals, it is an opportunity to develop and better yourself. It provides you with the resources to consider your future and develop skills that will assist you in the workforce. It allowed me to build my confidence, realise potential career paths and develop my networking and communication skills...[I formed] valuable connections with my Momentum peers and mentors."

"Momentum is a great opportunity for students to access the knowledge and experience of established business leaders, and learn the lessons of those who have been there before.

[Momentum] is also a perfect opportunity for students to build their employability skills and professional networks before entering the full-time workforce."
