Year 1, Semester 1: 24 units

Four courses from any of four specialisations:

Finance

  1. BUSN7008 Financial Statements and Reporting
  2. FINM7006 Applied Foundations of Finance
  3. STAT7055 Introductory Statistics for Business and Finance
  4. ECON8069 Business Economics, or STAT6046 Financial Mathematics

Actuarial Statistics

  1. STAT6013 Principles of Mathematical Statistics for Actuarial Studies
  2. STAT6014 Regression Modelling for Actuarial Studies
  3. BUSN7008 Financial Statements and Reporting
  4. FINM7006 Applied Foundations of Finance

*Any student who does not have sufficient mathematics must commence in Semester 2 to enrol the four courses as below:

  1. MATH1113 Mathematical Foundations for Actuarial Studies
  2. ECON8069 Business Economics
  3. FINM7006 Applied Foundations of Finance
  4. BUSN7008 Financial Statements and Reporting

Actuarial Studies

Assuming a student who meets the pre-requisite courses for the following:

  1. ACST8033 Investment and Asset Modelling
  2. ACST8041 Actuarial Control Cycle 2
  3. STAT8036 Credibility Theory

and one course from

Statistics

  1. STAT6039 Principles of Mathematical Statistics
  2. STAT7001 Applied Statistics
  3. STAT7026 Graphical Data Analysis 

and one course from

  • EMET8005 Economic Models and Introductory Econometrics
  • COMP6730 Programming for Scientists

Any student undertaking the Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics due to insufficient mathematics for the Master of Statistics should enrol in the following courses in Semester 2:

  1. MATH1113 Mathematical Foundations for Actuarial Studies
  2. STAT6038 Regression Modelling
  3. STAT7026 Graphical Data Analysis

and one course from the elective list*, e.g.,

  1. COMP6730 Programming for Scientists
