The Changing Role of the Strategic Commonwealth CFO - Have we Lost our Way?

The Allan Barton Memorial Research Lecture is an annual event jointly organised by CPA Australia and The Australian National University Research School of Accounting.

This year’s lecture examines the evolving responsibilities and challenges faced by public sector Chief Financial Officers (CFO) in a changing and challenging environment.

Keynote speaker Steven Groves will make reference to the contributions of CFOs in delivering better financial management and program outcomes, and provide a critical discussion of the key drivers and constraints shaping the direction of the role today, drawing on his experience, informed insights, and emerging disconnects and trends to highlight the way forward.
