Five academics from the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) were recently recognised for research and research supervision excellence through the 2023 CBE Research Awards.
Congratulations to Associate Professor Yanrong Yang, Associate Professor Chung Tran, Associate Professor Alexander Eapen, Associate Professor Geoff Warren and Associate Professor Gaurav Khemka.
Associate Professor Yanrong Yang – Prize for Excellence in Research (Level A–C)
ANU Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics
Yanrong’s research focuses on developing statistical theories and data-adaptive methodologies for large, complicated datasets from areas including finance, economics and actuarial studies.
Associate Professor Chung Tran – Prize for Excellence in Research (Level D–E)
ANU Research School of Economics
Chung’s research focuses on critical national and international issues in macroeconomics and public finance, some of which is being funded by the Australian Research Council, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Bank of Japan. His research is helping build the Australian Treasury's capacity for macroeconomic modelling and policy analysis.
Associate Professor Alexander Eapen – Prize for Excellence in Research Engagement and Social Impact (Level D–E, jointly awarded)

Alex’s collaboration with the Department of Defence's Directorate of People Intelligence and Research is improving recruitment and retention outcomes in essential workgroups within the Australian Defence Force.
Associate Professor Geoff Warren – Prize for Excellence in Research Engagement and Social Impact (Level D–E)

Geoff is using his superannuation and retirement research to engage with, and inform decisions made by, industry, regulators and policymakers.
Associate Professor Gaurav Khemka – Prize for Excellence in Research Training

Gaurav is providing invaluable guidance to the Higher Degree Research, Honours and Summer Research students he is supervising.
