Five academics from the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) were recently recognised for research and research supervision excellence through the 2022 CBE Research Awards.

Congratulations to Dr Francis Hui, Professor Lin Cui, Dr David Cheng, Professor Antje Berndt and Associate Professor Kun (Tracy) Wang.

Francis Cui Dr Francis Hui – Prize for Excellence in Research (Level A–C)

Francis’ research has seen major strides in modernising statistical practice in fields such as ecological and environmental statistics, biostatistics, and actuarial science.

Lin CuiProfessor Lin Cui – Prize for Excellence in Research (Level D–E)

Lin’s research focuses on international business strategies, and business innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in emerging economy firms.

David ChengDr David Cheng – Prize for Excellence in Research Engagement and Social Impact (Level A–C)

David’s research seeks to help organisations improve the performance, mental health and the retention of valued staff.

Antje BerndtProfessor Antje Berndt – Prize for Excellence in Research Engagement and Social Impact (Level D–E)

Antje, in collaboration with Darrel Duffie and Yichao Zhu, developed the Across-the-Curve Credit Spread Index (AXI) — an index that measures the recent average cost of wholesale unsecured debt funding for publicly listed US bank holding companies and commercial banks.

Tracy WangAssociate Professor Tracy Wang – Prize for Excellence in Research Training

Tracy was recognised for her work in supervising students undertaking Higher Degrees in Research within the College.
