Professor Ofer Zwikael from the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE) has been awarded the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) prestigious David I Cleland Project Management Literature Award.

The award recognised Ofer, Director of CBE’s Research School of Management, and John R Smyrk, who for many years taught in CBE’s Master of Project Management, for their book Project Management: A Benefit Realisation Approach.

The book is a comprehensive project-management toolkit designed to support project leaders across the entire life of a project – from conception through to evaluation. The book invites robust discussion around the concept of project benefits, provides reliable guidelines for the benefit-management process, and is complemented by an online workbook comprising an all-inclusive case study and work exercises.

On receiving the award, Ofer described how privileged he feels to share his knowledge and experience with the project-management community.

“I fell in love with projects by observation, engagement and participation – first through projects in practice and then in academia. I hope that the book will contribute to the education of a new generation of successful project managers who will make a difference to their organisations and our society. This award is a great honour and privilege – I would like to thank the Project Management Institute for this recognition and their continuous support of the project management community”, says Ofer.

This isn’t the first time Ofer has been recognised for his work, having previously received awards from the Academy of Management, British Academy of Management, International Project Management Association, Emerald and the Australian Institute of Project Management.

The College is always keen to explore research collaborations with the public and private sector and to reconnect with alumni. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about partnering with us.
