Pat Turner scholarship alumna and Kamilaroi woman Carlyn Waters from The Australian National University (ANU) College of Business and Economics (CBE) has been awarded the Ian Castles Alumni Prize for her efforts to build productive relationships between the College, the University and the Australian Public Service (APS).

Carlyn, a Senior Fellow in the Practice of Business at CBE, is also a champion of the Pat Turner scholarship program and has played an important role in building the pipeline of Pat Turner scholarship applicants. In addition, she is actively engaged in the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation’s alumni network as a member of the Alumni Advisory Group.

The Ian Castles Alumni Prize recognises an alum from the Sir Roland Wilson PhD scholarship program or the Pat Turner scholarship program, who has achieved extraordinary success in their fields, or made outstanding contributions to public policy in Australia or internationally.

The prize is named after Ian Castles, AO, OBE (20 February 1935–2 August 2010) who was a member of the Sir Roland Wilson Board from 1999–2009. Ian was also Secretary of the Australian Government Department of Finance (1979–86), the Australian Statistician (1986–94), and a Visiting Fellow at the Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government at ANU.

Congratulations, Carlyn!
