Biography

Dr. Yijuan Chen is an Associate Professor at the Research School of Economics at the Australian National University. His research primarily focuses on applied microeconomics, with particular interest in the intersections of health economics and industrial organization. Dr. Chen has published extensively, including in the Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, and the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy.

Dr. Chen collaborates with leading researchers both within Australia and internationally. Many of his projects aim to address policy challenges and offer practical insights, utilizing rigorous economic theory and empirical evaluation. His research projects have been recognized with prestigious funding, including grants from the Australian Research Council's Discovery Project and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His research on disclosing hospital waiting times earned him the Early Career Research Prize from the Australian Health Economics Society in 2013.

Dr. Chen joined the ANU RSE in 2009 as a Lecturer after receiving his PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2015, and then to Associate Professor in 2021. At the ANU, Dr Chen has taught a diverse range of economics courses, from undergraduate introductory microeconomics to advanced postgraduate courses such as Applied Microeconometrics and Health Economics.
