Alexander A. Vadilyev is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Australian National University. He was on sabbatical as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, and as a Visiting Scholar in Finance at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance and Master of Finance with Distinction from the University of New South Wales, Master of Finance from the New Economic School, and Diploma in International Economics with Excellence from the Far Eastern State University. Most of his research focuses on empirical corporate finance. He has published his work in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Critical Finance Review, and Economic Record, and presented it at various conferences, including the EFA, NFA, FMA, FMA Asia, FIRN, Auckland Finance Meeting, AFBC, Asian FA, the Bachelier Society, etc. He has received the Outstanding Paper Award at the Annual Conference on Asia-Pacific Financial Markets for his Ph.D. thesis work and the Best Policy Paper Prize at the Financial Research Network Annual Conference for one of his solo-authored papers.
Alexander has taught courses on Investments, Investment Theory, Portfolio Construction, and International Finance at the Australian National University, the University of British Columbia, and Simon Fraser University. He has been twice nominated for the teaching excellence awards.
Alexander is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and a full member of the CAIA Association. He is a member of the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, Financial Management Association, and Financial Research Network Australia.
Alexander has vast industry experience in investment research, private equity, and corporate finance advisory in Russia/CIS and Australia.
