Mark Wilson


Mark Wilson is an Associate Professor in the Research School of Accounting and Business Information Systems at the ANU. His research interests include accounting, economic and business history, earnings quality, the response of markets and securities analysts to financial reporting information and transaction cost economics. He has published in leading journals, including Accounting and Business Research, Accounting and Finance, and Abacus. Dr Wilson's PhD thesis was awarded the SJ Butlin Prize for the best Doctoral dissertation completed in Australia or New Zealand between 2006-08 in the area of economic history. Mark is an active researchers and supervisor at the Doctoral and Hons. levels, and is a member of the AFAANZ 2014 Technical Committee (Financial Accounting).

Dr Wilson was awarded internal research fellowships in the ANU's Research School of Business in 2010 and 2011.

Prizes and Visiting Scholar Positions

Dr Wilson's PhD dissertation won the S.J. Butlin Prize, awarded by the Australia and New Zealand Economic History Society to the best doctoral or masters thesis completed between 2006-8.

Dr Wilson's article "Earnings Management following CEO Changes: The Effect of Contemporaneous Chair and CFO Changes' won the Peter Brownell Manuscript - Runner-Up Award 2010. The Peter Brownell Manuscript Award is awarded to the best paper publised in Accounting and Finance in each calendar year.
