Assessment Arrangements for Students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English APPLICATION FOR ASSESSMENT CONCESSIONS The University has established a policy on Assessment Arrangements for Students from Language Backgrounds other Than English. This policy provides for those students who may need assistance during the first year of their studies at ANU. Students are required to register by submitting a form to the College and advising course authorities of their registration within the first three weeks of semester. The policy which provides information regarding eligibility and the process of registering can be found on the web at Assessment Arrangements for Students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English Identifying as a Linguistically Diverse Background Student does not entitle students to assessment concessions. Applications will be assessed and a determination made on what, if any concessions are appropriate. Decisions made for one course will not necessarily be the same as for another course. For assessment concession purposes the College of Business and Economics courses are categorised as follows: Category 1 No assessment concessions are approved for these courses Category 2 No time concessions will be approved for these courses. Foreign language dictionaries, submitted to and approved by Examinations Officer will be permitted at the discretion of the Course Authority. Category 3 Approved foreign language dictionaries and some time concessions will be approved for assessment tasks with a duration of more than one hour and less than 24 hours. Schools have classified courses as follows: Accounting and Business Information Systems – Category 2 Economics – ECHI1005 Australian Economy – Category 3; All other courses – Category 2 Finance and Applied Statistics – All courses category 2 Management, Marketing and International Business - All courses category 2 To register: Download and complete the
Registration Form and submit it to either College Student
Administration, Copland Building or Sir Roland Wilson Building within the first four weeks of
semester.
