The Student Ambassador Program 2010

About the Student Ambassador Program
The Student Ambassador Program is an exciting opportunity for students to be actively involved in promoting ANU and their degree program to prospective students while also gaining valuable professional skills and training.

The role of a Student Ambassador
Ambassadors are selected to represent ANU College of Business and Economics for various recruitment events and activities around Australia. This includes College/High School Visits, University Exhibitions, ANU Open Day.

As an Ambassador you will share knowledge with prospective students based on their own experience at ANU and assist in providing advice on:

  • Bachelor Degrees or Graduate Programs offered by ANU College of Business and Economics
  • Application and admission to the ANU
  • Living in Canberra
  • Accommodation, Services and Resources on campus and
  • University life

Benefits of being a Student Ambassador
Ambassadors are exposed to a wider network, are paid for each recruitment activity attended including associated travel and accommodation costs, receive a certificate of participation and written reference as well as gaining transferable work experience in:

  • Public Speaking and Oral Communication Skills
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Teamwork
  • Organisational Ability and
  • Interview Skills

In addition you will receive:

  • Travel and accommodation to interstate events
  • A certificate of participation
  • A written reference
  • Training and ongoing support

Selection Criteria
Intake into the Student Ambassador Program occurs on an annual basis. The number of applicants short listed is determined by the availability of places, demand in the location/s in which the applicant completed High School and the quality of applications submitted.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Enrolled in an ANU College of Business and Economics Undergraduate Bachelor Degree or Graduate Program
  • Have successfully completed the first year of study*

And demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Enthusiasm
  • Well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Available to participate in group training
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to supply a testimony and profile for use on promotional materials

Applications will be judged on the quality of the application, discipline and location of high school (Year 12)*.

To be considered for a place in the Student Ambassador Program, please complete and submit the application form and forward your CV to mdo.cbe@anu.edu.au with the subject line "SA10 CV - Name (uniID)" by Friday 16 October 2009.

Interviews
Applicants will be contacted from 22 October 2009 to advise of the status of their application. 

Formal interviews will take place in the week commencing 26 October 2009.

Applicants not short listed for an interview will be considered for the Student Ambassador Program as availability arises.

Commencement
The Student Ambassador Program will commence in first semester 2010.
